Think Club

Think Club

Think Club is a small club which has been running since 2007. It usually has between 7 and 12 Grade 11 and 12 members who volunteer to join.  We meet twice a month in the early evening. The girls, who volunteer to join, each deliver a paper on a topic of their choice. Each presentation is about 30 minutes and then the group discusses whatever issues arise. The girls enjoy the freedom of choosing their own topic, the range of opinion that emerges from discussing ideas with girls from other grades and the lively exchange that is typical.  Some of the topics that have been discussed are: gender similarities and differences, euthanasia, analyzing personality types, subliminal images, the influence of Harry Potter on popular culture, the influence of music on the youth, the Big Bang Theory, arranged marriages (pros and cons), the pros and cons of vegetarianism, the extent to which one can be a free thinking individual and so on.
