SMILE

Term 1 & 2 Report

 The theme for SMILE has been “ You, me and us”. It is a good theme to start with as it allows the Springfield girls to get to know the children from Litha Primary School. We had a book drive to collect books so that we could start a small library system for the children within SMILE. The library system will hopefully be up and running next term as the books need to be sorted and catalogued. We also had a cake sale and sold ice-creams at break. From this we raised roughly R500 towards the funding of the lunches for the SMILE learners. The Constantia SPAR is kindly donating the bread for the children's sandwiches each week this term. These fundraisers and SPAR's support has been vital in the progress of SMILE this year. It has been a good year for SMILE so far and that’s all thanks to the vice Courtney Roots and the Grade 11 SMILE girls.
